"I shop locally, and probably the best butcher shop in all of NYC is right down the street- it’s called Harlem Shambles."

“I’m a former chef and worked in kitchens for over 25 years. I rarely go out to eat, and we try and be healthy by not going out to eat. When you go out to restaurants you have no control over the way your food is prepared. 99.9% of the kitchens in New York are staffed by people who have had no formal training or certification. So almost all of our meals are done at home.

I shop locally, and probably the best butcher shop in all of NYC is right down the street- it’s called Harlem Shambles. We get our meat, eggs, and dairy products from them. Other than that I go to a small farmer’s market on Lennox to get produce. The one thing this neighborhood could really use is a good fish market- there is nowhere to buy decent fish, so I end up having to go out of my way to get it.”
