“I always wanted to be a pastry chef. When I was in college, there was a pastry shop I always went to in Greenwich Village. I took a job there as a dishwasher, but had to quit after one night because I got sick from eating so many pastries. I always admired it though. They had an artistic eye. I’m from Brooklyn, and I can’t even remember how many years I’ve been coming to this market for. Today I got some mushrooms to slice up and cook with olive oil. Sometimes I’ll add them to a marinara, or make a mushroom frittata. Hey, do you know Richard? The tall person with the mustache who sells potato chips. And Cynthia? It was nice to come by and see them. I don’t eat potato chips, but I have people coming to the house later and I figured they would like it.”
