“I guess you could say I am a health food enthusiast. I have eaten for my health for a very long time. I come from a family of doctors in Russia and I hate going to the doctors! I believe that what you put in is what you get out. When I first came to America I was just eating whatever was easy and available at the super markets. Processed food. I started to gain weight for the first time in my life. I had no idea why. I started to educate myself on health and realized there were so many chemicals and non-food items in what I was eating. I stopped eating like that immediately and lost the weight. You need to find your own balance with what works in your life with how you eat, what you enjoy, and your health.

For me and my husband we don’t cook anymore- we boil and steam all of our foods. I am a huge advocate of bone broth. There is a great hole-in-the-wall on 12th and 1st Avenue and they sell organic bone broth. It’s full of minerals and I do a cup of that with steamed vegetables at least once a day.

Check out Weston Price. He was a dentist that went all over the world and found that the people with the best dental and overall health were people who ate a very specific way. He believed that it begins with eating nutrient dense foods. These people never even cleaned their teeth! It was purely based on how they ate. So they ate bone broth, cod liver oil, and fish. As soon as these people went to a western diet they began to loose their health. It’s very interesting to read.”
